    CARING FOR YOUR MACRAME PIECE

In order to ensure that your macrame piece can last for long, please follow these simple steps.

    Upon delivery
Once item is delivered, hang your new fibre art immediately. Although cords may look slightly kinked at first, the fibres will naturally fall back in place with time. Use your fingers to separate the cords.

If the piece has fringes/tassels use a brush or comb to gently brush through the cotton fringes and tassels as these may become flattened/tangled during transportation.

A steamer, kept at a safe distance, can also be used.

Tip: When brushing, hold the fringe from the top and hold the brush close to the fibres to avoid distorting the fringe or pull the cords out of place.

    Hanging
If you are hanging a macrame piece outside, direct sunlight can result in discolouration.

Keep away from fumes and moisture. Apart from cotton being flammable,  fumes and moisture may encourage smells and mold growth.

Hang your macrame piece away from the reach of young children and pets.

    Cleaning
Do not vacuum your macrame piece.

For cleaning, support the macrame piece from the dowel/driftwood, take it outside and gently shake it from side to side in order to dislodge any dust particles.

You can also gently and carefully use a lint roller over areas where dust persists.

    Staining
In case of accidental staining, avoid soaking, submerging or using a washing machine as this may result in shrinkage or distortion of the design. Spot clean the area using lukewarm water and optional diluted white vinegar for persistent stains and hang in a dry ventilated area. Avoid detergents with bleach.

    Maintenance
Natural fibres can attract bugs, so ensure you check your piece regularly.

Regular checks for dust, bugs, mold and stains will ensure that little problems are tackled effectively.

Over time, tassels and fringes can twirl or lose their original smooth appearance. Use a comb or brush to gently brush over them to maintain a straight smooth soft appearance. It is recommended that brushing is done gently and the brush held closely to the top of the fibres.
